Discipline-based vs. Integrative education

The newer trend is the concept of integrative STEM education. It includes the teaching and learning practices when the subjects are purposefully integrated (M. Sanders, 2006; VTSOE, 2007).

When planning integrative curriculum, one field may be the dominant base discipline or all may be planned to be more equally represented (J. G. Wells, 2006).

If science can define meanings and measure results, art can express them and give a step forward, in a way of refreshment and innovation. (Avraam Sachpatzidis , 10.13140/RG.2.2.15200.2304)

A growing number of schools are incorporating teaching methods that are more aligned to STEAM education (Science, Tech, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics), since it has become, almost very clear and concrete, that arts education makes learning more fun and keeps everyone involved even more engaged.

What is your opinion about  what is STEAM education and how to create a model of integrative education?
