General Info

Robotic Village
Abstract

Robotic Village was a project ran in a Greek public school with 19 students aged 7-12 in the school year 2018-2019. It covered part of the official hours of operation of the school, but it was mostly extended in a non-formal zone in the evenings and Saturdays. The project was an attempt to enrich the learning environment of the kids, by facilitating robotics workshops, a book club with robot-themed literature and various creative activities employing ICT tools and modern pedagogical approaches.  The blog created for the project  is https://robotikoxwrio.blogspot.com/.

Many Creative Computing, Reading and Writing activities took place during the project. Aligned with the principles of Action Research and its multifaceted nature, the teacher facilitates an enriched learning experience for non-privileged students, while uplifting her professional development. Students get acquainted with the basics of programming through meaningful and product-oriented activities (stories, games). They also explore the world of robots in cultural products, such as literature books and movies. Sharing their creations in the classroom, online communities and school events is central part of the project.
